I started my career in 2001 but I never wanted to be a doctor, I just liked puzzles and fixing things. I had no desire to write prescriptions, and I still get anxious around the sight of blood. In truth, I never liked the doctors I knew, I found them egotistical, insincere and narrow minded. Despite these feelings I was pressured by my family and friends to study premedicine at University and eventually I applied to medical school. Everyone celebrated, except me. I felt like I had been trapped.
MY DAD’S INJURY
During this time my father hurt his back racing stock cars for AC Delco. His car crashed into the wall and exploded. Dad was airlifted from the racetrack and it was questionable if he would make it. The good news was he survived, but with a broken back. After medications, injections and countless hours of therapy nothing helped relieve his pain. Then just before giving up he found very a humble man, Dr. Vance, who helped him make a full recovery. This man was a Chiropractor. I was convinced Dr. Vance was a quack, so I set out to discredit him since I thought he was taking advantage of my father. Dr. Vance never prescribed drugs but used his hands to align my fathers twisted body. I remember telling my father, “He’s not a real doctor”, but my Dad started getting better. I set out to debunk Dr. Vance, however the more I investigated, the more impressed I became with Chiropractic.
I discovered that Chiropractors are a sort of, "body mechanic" that use their hands to activate the body's natural healing ability. It made sense to me, so much that I cancelled my plans for medical school and began the 4-year degree in Chiropractic at Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri. This decision was not received well among my family and peers. This was the beginning of what would be a long road of obstacles. Still I have never liked being told what to do and I found a perfect fit with the alternative teachings of Chiropractic. During these days my father was my biggest supporter. After graduation in 2001, I continued my studies with advanced training in the fields of Emergency Medicine (EMT), and Nursing (RN, NP) but I always found myself drawn back to Chiropractic and it’s principles of innate healing.
TREATING PATIENTS SINCE 2001
After 20 years, I still have found that nothing works better than Chiropractic to relieve suffering and promote natural healing. It is interesting to see that many of the principles Chiropractic was founded on are now considered modern biohacking, and functional medicine. At my busiest I have treated over 500 patients in a single week. Over the years I have gained a lot of practical experience and perhaps you can benefit from what I learned, both successes and failures.
The one thing about this work is that it does not lie. It is evident when it works, and there is no hiding when it does not. This is a humbling medicine to practice but unlike allopathic medicine, it gets to the source of the problem instead of just treating the symptoms. Our bodies hold the true prescriptions needed for healing, everything else is just facilitation. For several decades I have witnessed innate's wonderful ability cure people who were very sick. I have seen turnarounds that have been called miracles and because of what I have experienced I no longer believe in limitations, only the possibilities. Once you deeply study disease you understand the universal mechanism that allows it to manifest in our bodies. This information is not difficult to learn or implement. Ignorance is one of the greatest challenges to being well. Today I still dislike doctors and the sight of blood. In 2019 I sold my clinic and retired from practice. I still like puzzles and fixing things, so I write books, make videos and offer service. My focus is on what a person can do to help themselves, no expensive equipment, medical prescriptions or endless office visits. I have seen success with a combination of herbal medicine, proper food and manual therapy. Many solutions you can do on your own or with a very affordable bodyworker (Massage Therapist, Physical Therapist or Chiropractor). I hope you enjoy the information and I appreciate any questions or feedback. This is a labor of love, keeping me tethered to something I enjoy. Remember, I am a clinician and not a scientist. Sometimes things work and the explanation is less than satisfactory. I am ok with that, because my goal is to help reduce suffering, that's all, no politics.
